Non Disclosure - No Claim

As the UK’s number one Critical Illness Cover provider for the past four years* we’re committed to paying as many claims as possible:

  • We continue to highlight the potential impact of non-disclosure through our literature.
  • In 2009 only 1.8% of critical illness claims were declined as a result of non-disclosure.
  • We are delighted this figure has reduced again, compared to 4.2% in 2008.

But we’re not stopping there:

  • By helping us to reduce the chances of non-disclosure you help us to ensure that all claims are paid.
  • You’ll also help us to make the right underwriting decisions and apply the right pricing to the policy.

In turn, this will reduce the number of policy cancellations and commission clawbacks. More importantly, it will help you to retain your client’s confidence and help maintain your reputation.

How to ensure claims are paid

Common reasons why claims are declined due to non-disclosure include:

  1. Back pain
  2. Stress, anxiety and depression
  3. Height and weight inaccuracies
  4. Joint problems and arthritis
  5. Outstanding tests and investigations
  6. Smoking (including if your client has used any tobacco products in the last 12 months)
  7. Alcohol consumption
  8. Raised blood pressure and cholesterol.

Please ensure your clients tell us everything.
